A lack of transparency regarding the utilization of parking spaces and the existing control processes were labor-intensive and time-consuming due to several system and media disruptions. AUDI AG therefore opted for a standardized concept for vehicle tracking at all production sites.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The latest RFID reader generation from Kathrein Solutions was used at AUDI in order to optimally fulfill the requirements. When a vehicle passes an RFID reader, the ID number of the vehicle transponder is read and transmitted to the backend system together with direction recognition. The CrossTalk software, which is installed on each reader, interprets the read events, filters out unnecessary data or incorrect readings and forwards the relevant information to the IT systems. At the same time, the CrossTalk software manages and monitors the status of the RFID hardware and reading points. RFID data is recorded in the plant's internal parking lots and in the assembly areas. When parking vehicles, the driver also has the option of reading the vehicle's transponder with a handheld reader and manually recording or correcting the parking space. Optionally, the GPS coordinates are recorded at some locations and the exact position of the vehicle is reported to the IT systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Result<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since the system went live at the individual plants, transparency with regard to vehicle management processes has increased significantly, resulting in significantly reduced search times and optimized use of existing resources and parking space capacities.
