RFID (RADIO-FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION)
We offer RFID technologies that enable you to track and manage items and assets efficiently. Our solutions include RFID readers, antennas and customized transponders tailored specifically to your application. We also have expertise in sensor transponders. These offer advanced functionality, including pressure, temperature and humidity sensors. These transponders enable real-time monitoring and data collection in various applications, from warehousing to quality assurance.
We support a wide range of frequency ranges, standards and wireless protocols:
- HF (High Frequency, ISO 14443, 15693)
- NFC (Near Field Communication)
- UHF (Ultra High Frequency, ISO 18000-63C)
- RAIN RFID
Whether NFC for reading an intelligent type plate, UHF for recording thousands of products in logistics tracking or HF as a standard for access control, Kathrein offers a customized solution.
RTLS (REAL-TIME LOCATION SYSTEM)
Our RTLS solutions include nodes/anchors and transponders/beacons that work using UWB. This enables highly precise localization and tracking of objects, almost in real time.
The Kathrein RTLS platform (K-RTLS) offers a variety of different measurement methods, each of which can be ideally configured for your application.
There are 3 different locating modes:
- Angle of Arrival (AoA)
- Time of Flight (ToF)
- Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA)
The modes differ in terms of speed, precision, energy efficiency and outdoor capability.
BLE (BLUETOOTH LOW ENERGY, IEEE 802.15.4)
Our Bluetooth Low Energy solutions, including transponders and beacons, enable precise localization, tracking and access control.
This technology offers high accuracy and efficiency when tracking assets or people both indoors and outdoors. We support the latest standards from Bluetooth 4.0 to 5.2.
5G - Mobile radio
Kathrein Solutions offers two high-end RFID readers, RRU 4570 and ARU 3570, which are equipped with integrated 4G/5G modules. These enable the cloud connection of RFID devices even in regions without wired data networks, which is particularly advantageous in areas that are difficult to access.
Thanks to our extensive experience in integrating powerful, application-oriented 4G and 5G modules into IoT devices, we can also offer our partners this advantage. Kathrein Solutions not only supplies products, but also comprehensive advice and support in the implementation of mobile radio connections in their devices.
Transponder
Kathrein Solutions offers a wide range of high-performance transponders for automated vehicle identification and industrial use. If required, special transponders can also be developed for individual requirements, e.g. transponders for mounting on wood or metal (on-metal transponders).

Evaluation
In this phase, we evaluate your specific requirements and objectives to gain a clear understanding of the product to be developed.
Conceptualization
Based on the evaluation, we develop a detailed concept for the OEM solution that covers all aspects of the product, from functionality to design.
Simulation - (virtual) proof of concept
In addition to the physical proof of concept, Kathrein Solutions offers a virtual proof of concept using complex simulation software. All project data determined during an initial workshop is entered into the radio propagation modeling and simulation tool. Based on this virtual PoC, the partner or customer receives an initial, already very robust project concept.
Development
Our experienced engineers and technicians put the concept into practice and develop a high-quality product that meets your specific requirements. We use state-of-the-art EM simulation tools and measurement capabilities to ensure that our products perform optimally. Our expertise includes the development of RFID and RTLS systems as well as customized transponders.
Serialization and production
After development and extensive testing, we ensure that the product is ready for mass production. We produce samples, carry out measurements and compare these with the simulations to validate performance in the real environment. You then receive the orders we produce.
Approvals
If required, Kathrein can take over the approval activities for new developments. We have access to worldwide test laboratories for competent and prompt certification.
